How Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Works

IMG_7801sgndcwffarm melon basket of vegsCommunity Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a food subscription service where you pay the farmer before the season begins for a share in the upcoming harvest. As a CSA member you share in the risk and the bounty of the season.

In return, from mid-June through early September, you are provided with a weekly variety of high-quality, locally grown, seasonally fresh food at an affordable price. You know where your food comes from, you know who grows it. We are GAP certified (Good Agricultural Practices).

Along with enjoying good food, you:

  • Nurture the environment by purchasing from a farm that uses organic practices which protect natural resources.
  • Support the local economy and preserve open space by keeping agricultural dollars in Ohio and keeping a local farm in business.
  • Your participation in our CSA helps aid in the survival of local agriculture and you are a direct part of the success of the farm. This gives local farmers important early season support for seeds, greenhouse or farm supplies, heat, and labor in the production of your food.
  • CSA’s help connect you with the people who produce your food.
  • Reduce the number of miles your food travels and the amount (by 50%) of fossil fuels used: that conserves energy and promotes local sustainable agriculture.
