We have just processed a  batch of heritage chicken and they are ready. Heritage chicken is by far the most flavorful chicken. This is the chicken our parents & grandparents grew up on and served for those wonderful Sunday dinners with lots of biscuits and gravy too. Ahhhh I remember those days!

The birds are predominately moist flavorful dark meat and best cooked  slowly over low heat with breast side down basting often while cooking. It makes the best chicken stock you have ever tasted not to mention the savory flavor of the chicken. Heritage chicken is listed on Slow foods Ark of Taste specifically for their wonderful taste.

We  have a limited supply so be sure to get yours while they last. We will haveIMG_6704sgnd Our Jersy Giant hen and chicks June 2012 500x375 some at our Ravens Farmers Market this Saturday October 27. We will also offer them at the Columbus Winter Farmers Market while supplies last.

Don’t forget we will be at the Columbus Winter Farmers Market this winter so stop by and stock up on winter veggies, meats, eggs, honey, maple syrup and our herb dips, rubs & seasonings. The market is the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of the month November through March. There are lots of great farmers/producers also at the market with artisan soaps, apothecary, hot sauces, Mennonite baked goods, vegetarian soul food, local live entertainment and cooking demonstrations so stop out and visit the winter market it is held indoors and heated.

We still have winter CSA shares available for eggs, meat, winter vegetables and honey & maple syrup click here for details.
